The Frame
What a rainy day! Gorgeous. Returning from a walk in a raincoat.. if one could call a coat that collects rain a shelter.. it was exhilarating. Twenty-four minutes of ‘feelslikeimfallinginlove’ by Coldplay.
We know that this could hurt like heck, still we write. And still, it is Chapter 1, verse 1 of another life without boundaries. Paragraph two.
The We of Sophia
Whomever Sophia is, she appeared in a dream. She is worth remembering, however uncomfortable her memory’s existence may seem at present. We named her Sophia for subconscious reasons yet to be defined by the divine.
We stepped into her life. Even if it was for a brief time, Sophia’s reality existed in our reality. Dreaming is like that.
As we entered her body, Sophia was still there as a quiet observer. All of us were definitely confused, dreamer and she. This being the first time we’ve done this other life, at least in this Earthly reality.
We all seemed drunk with confusion, including Sophia’s silent soul. We were in her body, speaking on her behalf. We walked around stumbling and bumping into things like a baby might with its new ability to walk.
There was a small party of her friends around her. They were trying to help her return to normal. Their efforts were futile, at least for a dream’s worth of time.
Taking Sophia’s voice, we started to ask questions of these friends. Many questions on repeat, and enough that they became bothersome to her friends. Tuning into the questions we asked is for another chapter and dream.
We all walked outside where Sophia’s parents stood. The neighbor approached and dropped his chicken on the grass matter-of-factly. He was proud of that bird.
Sophia’s father dropped his giant frog on the ground too with a similar show of honor at the amphibian. There was some discussion between the two men about which totem was greater. It was a show and a challenge of wits.
Night Terrors, and the Reframe
The dream (or memory of which) began there. We aren’t sure why the mind chose to show us this episode, and it was so real that Sophia’s slurred speech likened similar dreams we’ve had when the subconscious and conscious mind blended together.
In previous dreams or nightmares, we were screaming. These are called “night terrors” in this Earthly reality. Our conscious mind would not allow the dreaming mind to be the only one in control. Consciously, we fought using words like, “No! I said no!”
Our past and present precious partners may confirm these dreams are very real. We do speak and thrash about in dreaming. When asked to wake up through gentle touch with reminders of safety, sometimes partners asked of what we were dreaming. This question was both irritating in the moment and also extremely helpful in the aftermath.
Our response was often the same. Family, it was about friends and family. People we love and lost track of. People who showed us both happiness and pain with their methods of what they perceived as a kindness.
Somehow, we know in this current version of our reality this is both PTSD and Possibility. Perhaps we call it P-ossibility T-o S-ave D-ivine. Why the word Divine comes to mind is a mystery yet to be solved.
Author Note
This is Chapter One of many from another Author of Life. As our cat sleeps next to us, dreaming too and twitching with his paw wrapped over his nose. We place a blanket on him and he stretches the paws as we both purr through these vibrations of life, listening and learning, again, what it is to rest these thoughts until new dreams may appear.
Remember: MEditate. Yoga. Dream. Theraplease. Breath deep and swim with the possibility of __(fill in the blank)______. (Kundalini?)
