He couldn’t
Get her
To listen.

So he called
Her Mother.

•

Apparently,
When one person
Won’t answer
His demands,

He recruits
Another.

•

And somewhere
Between
The accusations,
The threats,
And the family
Commentary,

Another woman
Was expected
To explain
Herself.

Again.

•

Her Mother
Had opinions.

About discipline.
About childhood.
About what
Might have happened

She wasn’t
A child
Waiting
For permission.

She wasn’t
A defendant
In a

Wasn’t
A community
Project.

•

A blog.

A pen.

A sense
Of humor.

And
An entire
Universe
Of things
More interesting
Than the opinions
Of demanding people
Who wouldn’t
Leave her alone.

Sasquatch.
Aliens.
Epic farts.

Perhaps
That’s what
Self-discipline
Looks like.

Knowing
When to speak.

Knowing
When to walk away.

And knowing
That just because
Someone
Messages
Her phone,

She doesn’t
Have to
Answer.
